When we were kids’, we loved going to Dubai mall to look at the fish aquariums and the coral reefs to go under the aquarium to look at the beautiful colors but what is the true meaning? How were they captured? Were they hurt in the process? Where do they come from? Were they separated from their family? There are so many questions to be asked but not many people find the answers to them. These questions come to my mind every time I see a fish in an aquarium, can they feel isolated? Is it too tiny for them? Did they have family that they had to leave behind in the ocean or wherever they came from? Were they caught illegally, or were they caught legally? These are the question that I started to think when I got my first two fish in my life, we bought them an aquarium with many decorations, but when they came home, I wanted to ask myself this, Were they here against their will? The answer to that question is YES, yes, they are. They are captured in nets, then dumped into big holes which have water, just enough so they can survive.
Bottom trawlers are enormous bag shaped nets that are pulled along the ocean floor catching every rock, piece of coral and fish in their paths. Bottom trawling literally scrapes the ocean floor clean of life and it is considered by some to be under water cutting of forests. This leaves absolutely nothing behind it's like millions and millions of football patches are being destroyed by one net. This net can take up to whole cathedrals even 15 two floored jets could fit in that net, so you can tell that this net is extremely humongous. Everything that is living in those football patches, in football fields, is being destroyed from the colorful coral reefs to the beautiful fish, every kind of fish. Nothing in its path is not destroyed.
Whales and Dolphins
Dolphins- they're Beautiful Creatures amazing blue coloring jumping up and down in the water entertaining us in the big aquarium shows. But have you ever wondered how they were caught? or were any murdered? How many do they kill to get one alive? How did this help them economically? How many of them actually die? Think about these questions every time you go to see these aquarium shows. You might not even go there to see dolphins you might go there to see whales; whales are even worse. They get tortured in England, and they say that it's not illegal, but they murder these whales, how do they kill these innocent whales just on the shore of the beach. Could you ever imagine anyone doing that, could you imagine someone being this cruel?
Yes people do say that it's not a big deal, and yes they do have a point because killing one whale equals the meat of 2000 chickens, “interview done by Ali, if you wanna watch the whole documentary go to Netflix and watch Seaspiracy” in this interview this man has killed whales before, and he doesn't feel guilty about it because he had actually stated that killing 1 whale equal to the meat of 2000 chickens, and he had actually stated that if you want to kill 2000 chickens instead of 1 whale then go ahead he thought that was better just killing one thing one animal instead of 2000 of it.
Whales and Dolphins are usually killed because they think that they are predators. Predators to whom you might ask. They think if they kill all the whales and Dolphins that all the salmon that they eat will become ours. Which in theory is completely wrong because whales and Dolphins actually help us make oxygen because they take 86% of our Carbon Dioxide and turn it into oxygen. Salmon, is one of the world's most eaten fish everywhere, the world today it is estimated that only 3% of salmon is actually left in the sea, in the ocean. Salmon is also grown in fish farms. The salmon that grows in fish farms turns into this dark grey substance and then they have a color chart to say “I want to pigment this salmon into this very bright pink color” which you see in the shops.
Plastic in the Ocean
Plastic in the ocean it's a very important thing all over social media people are saying reduce the amount of plastic straws or use or use recyclable straws like bamboo straws or something like that but did you know that actually the amount of straws that we consume is only 0.03% of the plastic that gets dumped into the ocean so basically we're doing absolutely nothing by doing something we think is useful when in reality it really, really isn't. Majority of the plastic in the ocean is actually plastic fishing nets yes you read me right plastic fishing net and they say that it's the straws the plastic that we use it's actually the plastic they use the ones that they use to catch the fish that we eat that's not fair they can just dump it in the ocean, can they? So many major companies don't even talk about the situation because they feel like they're going to get backlashed they think the people are going to turn their backs on them.
In conclusion I really think but we should all just really reduce the amount of plastic we use in general, we should reduce the amount of fish that we eat. We should just stop killing and capturing whales and Dolphins because that isn’t going to help us in the future that's going to just make us die. They help us with climate change. They are so useful when it comes to global warming climate change and all of these crisis, they are literally the key and if we just let them live a little without us going fishing as humans they can reproduce extremly quickly you have no idea.
