Expo 2020

As we all know, Expo has been held for around 170 years now, and this year it’s in our favorite place ever … the UAE! The Expo is being held in the UAE. October 1st, 2021, and will end on 31st March 2022. Now you may be wondering, why is it being celebrated in 2021 instead of 2020? Well, this is because of the pandemic, COVID-19.

The Expo dates back around 170 years, and the first Exposition was held in the iconic Crystal Palace to showcase the inventions of the industrial revolution. The first Expo was in 1851, London. The Eiffel tower was the main symbol of the Exposition Universelle de 1889 in, well Paris, of course!

This is the first Expo ever held in the Middle East or Southern Asia for that matter. There are countless reasons for it to be counted as one of the most important expositions in the history of, you know, expositions. Expo began for many exceptional reasons, the main being for technological and industrial innovations and inventions.

There were many preparations going on for Expo 2020 but the biggest of them all was the Al Wasl Plaza. The dome structure of Al Wasl Plaza at, the well-known, Expo 2020 Dubai provides one of the world's largest 360-degree projection surfaces, which offers an unparalleled experience. The dome weighs around 2544 tonnes, which would be around 25 blue Whales!  There are so many unmissable events that have already happened in Expo 2020. Some of which are the ‘Kaleidoscope’, ‘Halloween’ and ‘World Chess Championship’, and many more. The Kaleidoscope is a spectacular light show that will WOW the crowd away, and the good news is, that it’s NIGHTLY~ which is just AMAZING! On Halloween (31st of October) there was a special performance by Siamsa Tire, an Irish folk theatre group. The World Chess Championship (November 24th to December 16th) was to be funded with around 9 million dirhams!

There are many amazing reasons that Expo 2020 is special, with multiple different events, the theme of ‘Connecting Minds, Creating the future!’, the fun colors, lights, and friendliness of the locals or residents. There is no doubt that this Expo will be one of the most well-known and best Expo in history for years to come. Now the only question that remains is -  Will the next expo be in 2025 or 2026? Will we keep the order or mix it up a little? That is for you to find out!

Thank you for reading!
